Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers remains confident in his ability to reverse the club’s recent poor form, despite only securing three wins in the first eight matches of the season. With some bookmakers placing him as the favorite to be the first Premier League manager sacked this season and reports suggesting former Borussia Dortmund coach Jurgen Klopp is eyeing a Premier League role, the pressure is mounting.
“There’s always going to be speculation about your job,” Rodgers acknowledged in a press conference this morning. “Since I’ve been here, there have probably been ten managers linked with this position.”
Rodgers emphasized his strong relationship with the club’s owners, noting their regular communication. “Whether I’m here for one more day, a month, or a year, I’ll always give my best to achieve results. I thrive under the pressure of the challenge,” he added.
Despite the current situation, Rodgers is confident he will remain at Anfield for the long term. “My time here has been very enjoyable, and I hope that continues. I aim to stay here for a long time, working hard to prepare the team to play exciting, dynamic football and win matches.”
After a disappointing home draw against Norwich City and a narrow penalty shootout victory over League Two’s Carlisle United in the Capital One Cup, Rodgers is aware that the team needs to start winning soon. “I understand the need for results and embrace that challenge,” he said. “I’m a much better manager now than I was three years ago.”
Rodgers had a message for the fans: “Stay with the team. It only takes a couple of results to turn things around. One win, and we’re back in the top four.”
Currently sitting 13th in the table, Liverpool will face Aston Villa at Anfield tomorrow, their third consecutive home game.
